Katherine Oser has spent much of her career as an educator, just in different ways. Initially she worked as a high school teacher while her husband attended law school. That experience was followed by 13 years as Director of Management Development and Training for a Washington retailer. Now, as a financial representative for Northwestern Mutual, Katherine Oser educates her clients about their insurance and investment needs.

 

Making a difference in her client's lives is the greatest reward Katherine Oser receives from her career as a financial representative. Katherine appreciates the long-term relationships she's built with many of her clients. She is also grateful for the freedom she has running her own business, determining her income and living a balanced life with her family.

 

The biggest challenge Katherine initially faced in the business was activity and prospecting. These are the same issues faced by many new reps. Katherine now encounters different challenges such as responding in a profitable way to the enormous changes occurring in the industry, and within the company, during the last five years.

 

As a result of her financial representative career, Katherine Oser's learned she is capable of running a successful business. She enjoys having control over the process. "Northwestern Mutual Life's high standards are important to my own feeling of satisfaction with this career.  I know that I'll be able to do what's right for the client," said Katherine. She looks forward to her 20^th year of service with Northwestern Mutual in September and becoming a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), a premier association of financial professionals.

Katherine also believes Northwestern Mutual is uniquely the policy owner's  company and appreciates the financial strength the company has achieved.

 

Outside of work, Katherine Oser has many diverse interests. She likes to run, read, garden and travel with her husband. Katherine was instrumental in starting the Alumni and Friends of Yorktown High School (Arlington, VA), a group focused on providing college scholarships for students.
