Making the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Decision
I worked for Vicks Chemical Company as a sales representative. I was a college agent in graduate school.

The greatest reward in this career is the freedom to work with whom I want, and when I want. The greatest challenge, however, is time management -- making sure there are enough hours in the day to service existing clients while still adding to my client base.

What I've Learned
Along the way, I learned that if I work hard, I'm always rewarded. It's very rewarding to get paid for helping people achieve their financial goals.

The rewards go beyond financial, too. I had a client who was not happy with his career. I introduced that client to other clients who owned a business and were looking for someone to manage one of their offices. He did a great job in management and then bought into the company which later went public.

The Key to Success
Do what management tells you to do rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. Northwestern Mutual always looks to do what is right for the client. If it is not right for the client, then they will not do it.

Someday, I look forward to being the first active 100-year-old agent.

Outside of Work
I'm involved with the Estate Planning Council, Society of Financial Service Professionals, Jacksonville Seminole Club, Jacksonville Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and I'm an Insurance and Estate Planning Professor at the University of North Florida.
