| Rewards for Working Hard
Before I became a Financial Representative, I was in a Wall Street clerical position. I wanted to work hard to achieve success. The greatest reward in this career is helping people protect themselves, their families, and invest for college and retirement. The greatest challenge is dealing with being part doctor, accountant, attorney, computer geek, small-business man, and psychiatrist. And finding good prospects and managing time is always challenging. But I've learned the sky is the limit. People appreciate service. A Time I Made a Difference I have a client who became disabled and we converted $1,500,000 of his term insurance. Last year $600,000 was removed tax-free so they could buy a new home. Career Advice No cold calls. Stay close to a veteran. Hire staff. Get your Certified Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations early, attend home office meetings, get involved with the Financial Representative Association, and build relationships with home office people. Northwestern Mutual is different because of the quality of our products, service and leadership. Career Milestones There are several: securities licenses, career production, MVP conference for Northwestern Mutual Investment Services, Forum membership. I also earned the designations of Certified Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, and have had a 30-year career. Outside of Work Working five-and-a-half days a week leaves little time for anything except enjoying time with family and clients.
