| Making the Northwestern Mutual Decision
Before becoming a Financial Representative, I was a Sales Representative for Proctor & Gamble but did not like the corporate politics.
I've discovered the greatest reward in this career is having unlimited income potential and being able to set my own schedule as well as taking time off whenever I want.
The greatest challenge is managing my business and staying focused on sales production. And early in the career, it's challenging to manage the inconsistent cash flow all while keeping focused on new sales.
But along the way, I've learned I love helping people solve their financial goals and helping them put their financial plan together.
A Time I Made a Difference
I was golfing with a very close friend and neighbor across the street from me on a Friday afternoon. At 6 p.m. we had a few beers discussing our retirement dreams and he died of a heart attack that night around 10 p.m.
I knew that the check for $1.5 million that I delivered would keep the family together and his boys would get their education. You have no idea how good that makes you feel as a financial representative!
Milestones and Career Advice
I am looking forward to continuing to grow my business for the next 10 years and being able to retire from a long, successful career.
If you're considering becoming a Financial Representative, don't reinvent the wheel. Do what you're told, stay focused and keep a great attitude no matter what is thrown at you.
Our company's financial strength and the reputation we have in the community is what differentiates us from the others in the financial services industry. We just don't lose too often in a competitive situation.
Outside of Work
I am involved in industry board activities, golf, skiing and vacationing with my wife. Kids are in college!
