A Rewarding Career Shift 
Before becoming a Financial Representative, I was a Senior Vice President and Farm Representative of a small-town rural bank.

In this career, I find it rewarding to be able to help my clients work towards their financial and personal goals and the freedom that I have to perform the activities of the business.
 
The career has its challenges, too, such as finding people who understand the total process we can do for them. There are a lot of people who have a preconceived notion of what we do that is not accurate.
 
And early in the career, it's challenging to learn how to survive in a commission-only business.
 
Along the way, however, I've learned that I had the mettle to do the things that were necessary to have this business in a small rural town setting. I also learned that I have persistence, drive and patience.  

A Time I Made a Difference
A client of mine from the time he was in college to the present called me one day and said that he wished he had purchased $200,000 more life insurance.  

After finding out why, I was able to deliver $150,000 of new life insurance coverage to him because several years earlier he and I had the right discussions for an unforeseen health problem with lymphoma cancer.  

He had also purchased all the disability coverage he was eligible for.  

Currently he is cancer-free for over five years. Recently I asked him about his income during the time he could not work, and he said that he also did not suffer financially.

Sound Career Advice
I've been in business over 22 years and I'm looking forward to the next 22 years. 

If you're considering this as a career, follow the formula in the training process and work hard, and you will receive financial rewards in due time. This business has delayed gratification.

I am Commander of VFW Post 3123, Secretary of Grant City Lodge 66 AF & AM and Treasurer of the Worth County Progress Organization.
