The Ability to Be Independent
I was a recent college graduate when I started my career. I had various summer jobs ever since I was 16. About the only thing I knew for sure is that I wanted to work for myself. 

This business offered the opportunity to become a self-employed professional without having substantial capital to start. It also offered me the opportunity to help others.

I find the freedom the single greatest aspect of being a Financial Representative. We have the freedom to focus our business in whatever direction we choose, and have the freedom to make a change if we wish. We also have the freedom of time. We never have to miss a single family function. We don't have to worry about punching a clock or asking for vacation time.

The greatest challenge is time management related to self-motivation. Since we must create all of our own work, being efficient while maintaining a solid work ethic is critical. 

Early on in my career, the biggest challenge other than staying focused was sustaining the belief that things would work out and success would continue.

Along the way, I have learned that I am most happy when I'm being productive.
 
Notable Milestones
I have been fortunate to have had a very successful career thus far, being at Forum level production for six consecutive years. I look forward to integrating more of the network aspects into my practice, expanding into new areas of financial services.
 
Solid Advice
If you are considering becoming a Financial Representative, be prepared to work very hard, and do exactly what you are told to do by those who supervise you. Don't reinvent the wheel, and you'll be successful if you stay focused.

Outside of Work
I teach homeless people and am involved with my condo association and my church. I have given a lot of time to the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center, of which I'm now Secretary. I have also spent a lot of time coaching my two children's sports team.
