A Rewarding Career Shift
Before becoming a Financial Representative, I was a business owner.  My brother and I owned a franchise together.

The greatest reward in this career is meeting lots of different people. I feel I'm helping them achieve their goals for their family and for their retirement.

The biggest challenge is the hours worked! Paying the bills in the first few years was tough while trying to survive in the industry. Another great challenge has been prospecting for qualified clients.

In the early years, in addition to scraping by to make ends meet, dealing with all the rejection was tough. Not knowing when or where the next paycheck was going to come from is very stressful.

But along the way, I've learned that I can help people and that I offer them honesty about what's out there for products and what things they should be considering. I don't try to pad my pocket. I feel I look out for their best interest.

Sound Career Advice
My career milestone is to build a comfortable life for me while helping others achieve the same for themselves.

If you're considering this as a career, don't expect to make a ton of money early on. It's not easy. Prepare for rejection, because it will happen often. You can only help those who want to be helped.

It's a rollercoaster ride at times. Sometimes you love it, sometimes you don't.

In this industry, our permanent insurance products have top ratings.

Outside of Work
I play all kinds of sports, like basketball, softball, volleyball, water skiing and football. I enjoy boating, fishing, camping, playing cards and hiking.

I've been a member of the Waunakee Rotary Club for over two years now.
