| A Rewarding Career Choice
I was introduced to the company through a guest speaker at the University of Wyoming.
At that time, I was going back to school to get my finance degree with the intentions of starting my own financial practice because I did not like what I saw in the industry. I did not agree with the brokerage house mentality, and I also wanted nothing to do with the pure insurance houses. Northwestern Mutual was the company out there that pursues exactly what I wanted in my own practice: build lasting relationships with clients using a needs-based focus and no product pushing. Building Lasting Relationships The greatest reward of being a Financial Representative is being able to help people and build great friendships and the working relationships with my clients. It brings me much joy and a sense of purpose knowing that I assist these people to obtain their financial goals. Overcoming the Challenges The greatest challenge in this career is having the discipline to not exercise too many of the perceived freedoms in this business too early in my career. Early on, there is no steady income and no established clientele. Although those are hard, I would have to say that the biggest challenge is overcoming the belief of prospective clientele who would naturally assume that I'm just like the other guy out on the street. This is only true until they meet me and learn about the company that I have the privilege to work with, and then they see. This career experience has taught me that I'm really smart and an extremely hard worker. Making a Difference I think that I've made a huge difference in a lot of lives, but the biggest difference will be in 30 years after I've challenged all of my younger clients to save some of their money. Looking Forward I really look forward to when I will be able to hire an assistant to help me in the business, so that I will be in the position to help more people.
