| A Rewarding Career Shift
Prior to becoming a financial representative, I worked in sales -- spending three months in New York City, 2.5 years in Topeka, Kansas, and three years in the Chicago area.
I ended up in this career for a number of reasons, one of which was not that my father was a financial representative. I had become very tiresome of the corporate bureaucracy of not being paid what one is worth; therefore, I decided to venture into a career that paid me in direct proportion to my efforts.
The Challenges and Rewards
The greatest reward has been partnering with people to help them succeed financially. The aspects of my career that I appreciate most are the ability for me to run my own day and speak to the people I enjoy talking with.
Early in my career, the biggest challenge was my lack of time at home.
The greatest challenge of being a financial representative has been the business owner aspect, which would include managing expenses as well as employees and everything that goes along with owning your own business.

Career Advice
Throw out all your past habits and develop new ones because the road to success has been paved. To avoid derailment, it is best to eliminate any previous habits since there are probably a few that could be detrimental.
Outside of Work
